Mission Impact Evaluation Manager

The Manager, Mission Impact Evaluation (MIE) is a strategic and collaborative leader responsible for evaluating the impact of Diabetes Canada’s Mission programs. Diabetes Canada’s aspiration is to improve the quality of life for people diagnosed with diabetes. This role measures progress toward that goal across all Mission areas, including Research & Science, Diabetes Knowledge & Connection, Healthcare Provider Education & Engagement, Government Affairs Advocacy & Policy, Inclusion Diversity Equity & Accessibility, and Change the Conversation.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Research and Science, the Manager, MIE will work cross-functionally to design, implement, and communicate evaluation strategies that demonstrate the impact of Mission activities. Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, analytical thinking, and expertise in both quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods. The ideal candidate is innovative, data-driven, and skilled at translating insights into actionable outcomes.

Location: Diabetes Canada’s national office is located at 1000–170 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario. While we welcome applications from across Canada, this role is primarily based in Ontario and may require attendance at the Toronto office as directed by organizational or managerial needs. We offer a flexible work arrangement that supports remote work with occasional in-office presence.

Compensation: The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $82,000 annually, depending on experience with meeting the requirements of the role.

What You’ll Do

Refine Mission Impact Evaluation Framework
 

  • Lead ongoing refinement of the MIE framework to align with organizational priorities and evolving programs.
  • Ensure all the organization’s mission activities are reflected in the MIE framework
  • Integrate the organization’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Strategy into the framework and develop impact metrics to evaluate IDEA priorities within Mission activities in collaboration with the Executive Director, IDEA.
  • Build relationships with other purpose-driven organizations (e.g., health charities, iNGOs, other NFPs) and conduct environmental scans to identify best practices.
     

Measure Mission Impact
 

  • Develop high-level metrics that capture DC’s contribution to improving the quality of life of people with diabetes.
  • Create methodologies for estimating and demonstrating long-term impact of Mission initiatives (e.g., research, D-camps, advocacy).
  • Maintain an annual dashboard of MIE metrics and collaborate with stakeholders to share results.
  • Identify impacts from across Mission, for e.g., from research, analyze post-grant reports of funded research, conduct literature reviews to track the research progress, and translate findings into public-friendly summaries.
     

Mobilize MIE Across the Organization
 

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues and provide leadership in implementing and interpreting, impact evaluation across Mission programs
  • Champion a culture of impact measurement and storytelling.
  • Support the translation of scientific, advocacy and healthcare progress into compelling impact stories for people with diabetes to the public and partner audiences.
  • Collaborate with other departments to communicate Diabetes Canada’s impact to external stakeholders
     

Operations
 

  • Maintain processes and dashboards relevant to MIE.
  • Ensure timely execution of contracts and processing of invoices.
     

This role is not limited to the responsibilities listed above and may include other duties as required.

What You Bring
 

  • Undergraduate degree in a health sciences, health economics, evaluation sciences, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods.
  • Expertise in evaluation, modelling and short and long-term impact projections for health care, research, advocacy and education.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills across a range of audiences.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of implementation science and/or change management.
  • Familiarity with health policy, health systems and medical / scientific terminology.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems and querying tools is an asset.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and professionalism.
