Description:
The Government of Yukon is seeking a Manager of Resident Care for the Alexander McDonald Lodge in Dawson City. This pivotal role provides leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on management to ensure residents receive safe, high-quality, and respectful care. The Lodge delivers person-centered care, creating a feeling of home and belonging for individuals who require intermediate care support.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and inspire the Resident Care team, ensuring high standards of care and fostering a positive workplace culture.
Develop and implement strategic initiatives, including recruitment, training, and retention of staff.
Build strong relationships with residents, families, community partners, and stakeholders.
Oversee program evaluation, resource allocation, and quality improvement initiatives.
Actively participate in care delivery when required, demonstrating leadership by example.
Manage operational, regulatory, and compliance requirements for the Lodge.
Required Strengths and Skills:
Current nursing license in good standing with a Canadian regulatory body.
Significant clinical nursing experience with supervision of healthcare professionals.
Demonstrated leadership experience in healthcare, preferably in long-term or residential care.
Strong interpersonal skills, personal responsibility, and self-awareness.
Strategic thinking and ability to influence others to achieve organizational goals.
Client-focused mindset and commitment to excellence in service delivery.
Ability to take action, achieve results, and lead change and innovation.
Experience in a rural or northern healthcare setting is considered an asset.
Conditions of Employment:
Current Yukon Registered Nursing Association or PLRA registration in good standing.
RCMP clearance with vulnerable sector check.
TB clearance.
Valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s licence or equivalent.
CPR Level C and WHMIS 2015 (within 1 month of hire).
Food Safe certification.
Work Environment:
On-site role in a rural community.
Regular lifting up to 20 lbs.
Travel by ground and air within and outside the territory.
Potential exposure to pets, second-hand smoke, warm temperatures, infectious organisms, and latex products.
