Qualcomm, a global leader in wireless innovation and advanced computing technologies, is offering an exciting Deep Learning Research Internship opportunity for FY26 in Markham, Ontario. This full-time, on-site position provides aspiring researchers with a hands-on experience in the rapidly evolving field of generative modeling and video diffusion, contributing to the future of AI-driven multimedia technologies.

At Qualcomm, you’ll work with world-class researchers and engineers who have shaped technological revolutions — from 5G and IoT to AI and extended reality. The internship is designed to immerse you in the forefront of AI research, exploring video diffusion models, generative architectures, and their applications in video synthesis, image editing, and facial reenactment. The research outcomes are expected to contribute to top-tier conference publications and advance Qualcomm’s innovation pipeline in AI-driven video technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth research on novel architectures and training strategies for high-quality, efficient video generation.

  • Explore and implement conditioning mechanisms to extend video diffusion models to applications such as image editing and facial reenactment.

  • Curate and generate datasets to support model development, experimentation, and performance benchmarking.

  • Implement baseline models and conduct comparative analyses through ablation studies and quantitative evaluation.

  • Optimize model architectures for computational efficiency and scalability, ensuring practical deployment feasibility.

  • Collaborate with senior Qualcomm researchers to contribute findings to potential research publications and conference papers.

Programming & Technical Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in Python.

  • Strong experience with PyTorch and neural network frameworks.

  • Solid understanding of deep learning architectures, computer vision, and generative models.

  • Knowledge of video processing and AI model optimization is an asset.

Educational Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.

  • Eligible candidates must have a graduation date of December 2026 or later, including May or June 2027.

  • Must be available full-time from May to August 2026 for a 4-month internship.

Work Environment:

  • This position is fully on-site at Qualcomm’s Markham office (five days per week).

  • Hybrid or remote work options are not available for this role.
