Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Brand and Marketing, the Graphic Designer is responsible for creative development, production, and execution of print/digital design, photography and marketing initiatives, ensuring compliance to the University’s brand standards, and relevant legislation.
The Graphic Designer will:
- Develop concepts and design solutions for Brock’s marketing communications, including layout, production and pre-press file preparation;
- Develop comprehensive and cohesive designs aligned with the brand and campaign guidelines;
- Design and produce engaging, commercial-quality graphics and promotional materials including infographics, presentations, brochures, reports, posters, and magazine publications;
- Create multimedia graphic elements for digital advertising, online media buys, interactive documents, web pages and email campaigns;
- Consult with internal partners to establish the overall look, graphic elements and content of communications material that meet their needs and University Brand standards;
- Prepare illustrations or rough sketches of materials and utilize software to generate new ideas;
- Organize print jobs within tight deadlines with internal and external vendors; and
- Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and relevant legislation.
Key Skills and Experience:
- A college diploma or undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g. graphic design, arts, or digital media);
- Relevant experience developing/designing print and digital graphic layouts, with responsibility from conception to final product, including pre-press and print production experience;
- Ability to design graphics, ensuring professional appearance and consistency with brand/accessibility standards;
- Strong creativity, visual design abilities, and pre-press production knowledge;
- Applied knowledge of photography, motion graphics, and photo & video editing;
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and/or other graphic software in a Mac environment;
- Knowledge of relevant legislation as it relates to design and electronic communication platforms;
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines;
- Strong attention to detail and visual problem solving; and
- Ability to adapt to new platforms, software and design techniques.
