Financial Risk Controller

Description:

BNP Paribas is seeking a Financial Risk Controller for its Montreal office or Canadian branch/subsidiaries. The role is part of the Finance Control Group (FCG), acting as the 2nd Line of Defense, assessing internal control for financial reporting (ICFR) and internal control over compliance (ICOC). The Financial Risk Controller will develop and implement a robust financial and regulatory control framework, perform risk identification and assessment over financial statements and regulatory reporting, and execute walkthroughs, design tests, and operating effectiveness tests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with local and overseas teams in Montreal, New Jersey, and Mumbai.

• Perform risk assessments and control testing following U.S. regulatory requirements and COSO framework.

• Identify control weaknesses and gaps; suggest and implement remediation solutions.

• Coordinate with Control/Process Owners and other stakeholders regarding control documentation and evaluation.

• Lead meetings with business leaders to ensure financial and regulatory reporting risks are mitigated.

• Contribute to presenting control results to management and committees.

• Leverage tools like Power BI and Tableau to develop dynamic reports and presentations for senior management.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.

• 3-5 years relevant experience in financial risk, audit, or consulting for financial institutions.

• Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.

• Knowledge of financial, banking, and regulatory processes.

• Programming and data visualization skills: SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau.

• Professional certifications like CPA, CFA, or CIA are desirable.
