Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, a global leader in the mining and construction industry, is seeking a qualified Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to join their Field Service team in Alberta, Canada. This full-time position operates on a 2 weeks fly-in/fly-out rotation, offering a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge mining equipment while contributing to the success of one of the world’s most respected industrial engineering companies.

As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing advanced mining machinery, ensuring optimal performance and safety in line with company standards.
Perform maintenance, repair, and servicing of heavy mining equipment and components as per manufacturer specifications.
Plan and prepare required tools, parts, and resources for efficient task completion.
Conduct new equipment commissioning, including pre-delivery inspections and operational testing at customer sites.
Diagnose mechanical issues and perform root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurring problems.
Provide technical support and recommend improvements to customer equipment and processes.
Utilize mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and automation knowledge to identify and resolve system issues.
Maintain accurate maintenance reports, documentation, and obtain customer authorization for service billing.
Coach and guide junior technicians and assist customers with training on servicing and maintenance.
Perform all work in accordance with Sandvik’s Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and industry regulations.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support Sandvik’s reputation for safety and reliability.
Strictly comply with all Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology safety policies.
Conduct risk assessments (“Take Five”) before each task and report any unsafe conditions or incidents.
Maintain tools and equipment in safe operating condition.
Keep work areas clean and organized, meeting housekeeping requirements.
Attend safety-related training sessions and always wear assigned PPE.
Diploma or equivalent certification in Mechanical/Electrical field.
Valid Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic License required.
Minimum 3 years of experience with mining equipment maintenance and repair.
Previous experience with Sandvik equipment is a strong asset.
Skilled in reading schematics and performing complex mechanical troubleshooting.
Proficiency with MS Office applications and digital reporting tools.
Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork abilities.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel across mine sites throughout Western Canada.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
