Engineering Manager

Description:

Deloitte, one of Canada’s largest professional services firms, is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineering Manager to join its Global Deloitte Technology division. This role focuses on delivering world-class cloud solutions that support both revenue-generating and internal applications, driving innovation and digital transformation across the organization.

The successful candidate will take a leading role in the cloud architecture and engineering practice, providing technical expertise on AWS infrastructure services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, business leaders, and technical professionals to ensure that Deloitte’s cloud strategy is effectively implemented and aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and delivery of scalable and secure cloud solutions using AWS technologies.

• Develop and extend cloud automation through RESTful APIs, serverless functions, and event-driven architecture.

• Ensure compliance with governance, security, and regulatory standards while implementing best practices for cloud operations.

• Build infrastructure as code (IaC) templates using CloudFormation for consistent and repeatable deployments.

• Provide guidance on DevOps automation, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub, etc.), and release management automation.

• Partner with development teams to design and optimize cloud environments for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

• Act as a trusted advisor on Cloud Engineering, providing strategic insights and solutions.

• Manage after-hours on-call support as needed to maintain high availability and responsiveness.

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in IT, with 3–5 years in cloud development on AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Proficiency in Python and experience developing APIs and event-driven systems.

• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation.

• Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Understanding of Scrum Agile methodology and collaborative software delivery.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to guide teams and manage stakeholders.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Node.js and modern server-side scripting languages.

• Knowledge of networking, load balancing, and firewall configurations.

• Familiarity with Continuous Delivery (CD) models and automated build pipelines.

• Experience implementing best practices for always-on IT operations in enterprise-scale environments.
