Engineering Manager

Description:

Mozilla, a mission-driven organization behind open-source technologies like Firefox, is seeking two Engineering Managers to lead high-impact platform teams — one for the DOM team (working on web standards like Storage, File System, Web Workers, etc.), and the other for the SpiderMonkey team, which maintains Mozilla’s JavaScript engine and contributes to JavaScript standards (TC39). Both positions are remote and work within distributed global teams, some of which are based in Mozilla's Berlin office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of software engineers working on system-level Web APIs or the JavaScript engine and standards.

• Drive team roadmaps, manage risks, clear blockers, and assign work aligned with team members’ strengths.

• Guide technical decisions, prioritize work, and ensure high-quality, maintainable code delivery.

• Actively mentor and support the professional growth of team members.

• Collaborate openly within Mozilla and the global open-source community.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years in a hands-on people management role.

• Proven leadership of diverse engineering teams with mentoring experience.

• Background in software engineering with strong technical judgment and ability to support technical leaders.

• Strong skills in project management, triage, prioritization, and delivery of complex software projects.
