Our client, a family-owned company with over 6,500 employees across North America, is hiring a Civil / Electrical Utilities Estimator to join their Southern Ontario Utilities team in Scarborough, Ontario. The company delivers high-quality construction, facilities management, and technical solutions to government, institutional, and industry clients. They are working on exciting transit and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) projects and are seeking a passionate and skilled estimator to support their growth.
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing take-offs and estimates for transportation and utilities projects. You will play a critical role in estimating for utilities work, including street lighting, traffic intersections, intelligent traffic systems, and duct banks. This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects with MTO and other major transportation initiatives.
Prepare electrical and civil take-offs/estimates for transportation and transit projects, such as street lighting, traffic intersections, intelligent traffic systems, and duct banks.
Accurately estimate costs for materials, labor, and equipment using detailed drawings and specifications.
Lead the tendering process, including cost monitoring and reporting.
Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and owners to finalize competitive pricing packages.
Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, hand-offs, and project closings.
Maintain a comprehensive directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
Propose innovative solutions for project estimates in collaboration with engineers and stakeholders.
Develop tender construction schedules and scope-of-work methodologies.
Maintain the Bid2Win database for streamlined project estimation.
Strong communication skills with a customer-first mindset.
Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to teamwork.
A university degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Fundamentals.
An electrical trade background is an asset.
5+ years of experience in utilities estimating.
Experience in transit and/or transportation construction projects is an asset.
Proficiency in MS Office and Bid2Win estimating software.
Work Model: 100% in office, Monday to Friday.
Work Hours: 40 hours a week.
