Disability Case Manager

Description:

Sun Life, a leading provider of health benefits across Canada, is hiring Disability Case Managers to join its Group Disability team in Montreal for a June 23, 2025 start date. This hybrid role provides a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Canadians while building a career in health and disability claims management.

The role involves managing short- and long-term disability claims, providing critical support to clients (employers and employees), and leading interventions that foster recovery and return to work. You’ll be working closely with a diverse and knowledgeable team while developing valuable communication, assessment, and relationship management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess eligibility for short- and long-term disability benefits.

• Lead client communication throughout the absence and return-to-work period.

• Conduct telephone interviews to gather detailed information on medical and non-medical factors.

• Build trusting relationships with both employers and their employees.

• Determine recovery support strategies and appropriate return-to-work plans.

• Analyze medical documentation, functional capabilities, and contractual details.

• Collaborate with team members to manage complex and sensitive cases.

Required Qualifications:

• Post-secondary degree in any discipline (all degrees welcome).

• Bilingualism (French & English) is mandatory for handling calls across Canada.

• Strong analytical and detail-oriented mindset, particularly for complex claims.

• Demonstrated empathy, resilience, and excellent communication skills.

• Comfortable using multiple platforms and digital tools (tech-savvy).

• Ability to perform under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

• Proven team collaboration and proactive work ethic.
