Description:

As a key member of the Group Benefits Valuation team reporting to the AVP, Valuation Actuary, the Director, Valuation Projects, is responsible for initiating/supporting various value-generating initiatives and playing a critical role in shaping GB's earnings narratives. Successful candidate will collaborate with various partners, including those in GB actuarial, finance, operations, CXO, ALM, Canadian/Corporate Actuarial, to achieve this. Problem solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and the mindset to challenge the status quo will be integral to success.

Main accountabilities:

• Review GB’s key valuation assumptions and make recommendations
• Explore and potentially implement predictive models in assumption-setting process
• Communicate assumption and methodology changes to the senior management
• Generate insights in GB’s inforce profit emergence and develop metrics/exhibits
• Initiate/support cross collaboration projects with GB pricing/planning/finance teams
• Partner with ALM and review GB investment strategy
• Align GB finance's goal with other stakeholders, including the operations area.
• Own IFRS 17 onerous contract classification and loss component calculation process.
