Coalition, Inc., the world’s first Active Insurance provider designed to help organizations prevent digital risk before it strikes, is seeking a Data Scientist II to join its innovative and rapidly growing team. Founded in 2017, Coalition combines comprehensive insurance coverage with cutting-edge cybersecurity tools to protect businesses of all sizes from cyber threats.

The Data Scientist II will play a pivotal role in measuring, analyzing, and optimizing Coalition’s insurance business. The role emphasizes improving cyber insurance customer experience, driving safe and efficient revenue growth, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. Working closely with stakeholders in Product, Engineering, and Insurance, the Data Scientist II will transform complex datasets into actionable insights, design and analyze experiments, and build scalable data solutions that support business goals.

This is a remote position, offering flexibility, autonomy, and growth opportunities to lead cross-functional projects and directly impact the company’s strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and deliver end-to-end analytics projects, including defining problems, writing SQL queries, analyzing data, and presenting actionable insights.

  • Design, run, and evaluate A/B tests and quasi-experiments, documenting methodologies and learnings.

  • Build and maintain reliable dashboards while defining and documenting core business metrics.

  • Synthesize complex data into concise, clear narratives for business and product reviews.

  • Support company-wide OKR tracking and business performance measurement.

  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to contribute to lightweight data models and analytical datasets.

  • Maintain reproducibility, documentation, and best practices through analysis reviews.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2–4 years of experience in data science or analytics, delivering measurable business outcomes.

  • Advanced SQL expertise (complex joins, CTEs, window functions, query optimization).

  • Proficiency in Python or R for analysis, experimentation, and workflow automation.

  • Solid understanding of statistics: hypothesis testing, regression analysis, experiment design, and confidence intervals.

  • Experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Looker for building dashboards.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred / Bonus Skills:

  • Experience in insurance, insurtech, fintech, or other regulated industries.

  • Familiarity with tools such as Looker, Amplitude, Salesforce, Segment, or Zuora.

  • Exposure to analytics workflow tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow).

  • Knowledge of causal inference methods, experimentation platforms, or GenAI-assisted analytics workflows.

  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor.
