Description:
The duties of the position are expected to average the equivalent of 2-3 days or 16-24 hours of work per week. The Curator in Residence will engage students in our Certificate in Critical Curatorial Studies to develop a curatorial project and to learn to write curatorial texts. Additionally, the Curator in Residence will work with SOTA students to curate a selection of student work for campus exhibitions and a minimum of 1 studio critique per term (2 total). Other options might include in class visits and public outreach through talks or museum tours.
Successful applicants will:
have curated a minimum of 2 exhibitions at a public gallery, museum, or artist-run centre
have experience with site specific and/or socially-engaged curatorial projects
have an MFA or an MA in curatorial studies or a related field
have demonstrated commitment to critical curatorial practices that are anti-oppressive and decolonized
be legally eligible to work in Canada
