As the Controller for the inaugural phase of AES, you will assume comprehensive accounting responsibilities during our launch. We seek an adaptable and hands-on professional who will provide robust support to AES USA's leadership team and report directly to the entity's CFO, located in France. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in establishing our financial foundation and ensuring its alignment with our global objectives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the preparation of comprehensive financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
    • Vigilantly monitor financial performance, conducting in-depth analyses of variances to safeguard the company's fiscal well-being
    • Develop and meticulously implement financial policies, procedures, and robust internal controls
    • Ensure unwavering compliance with Canadian accounting standards and regulations
    • Diligently prepare and submit all requisite financial reports and tax filings, upholding legal obligations
    • Collaborate closely with departmental leaders to collaboratively craft annual budgets
    • Maintain vigilant oversight of budget performance, offering well-informed recommendations for effective cost control
    • Skillfully prepare financial forecasts that underpin strategic planning initiatives
    • Execute precise management of cash flow and treasury functions, strategically optimizing working capital
    • Regularly scrutinize and reconcile bank accounts and cash balances to maintain financial accuracy
    • Provide invaluable financial insights and actionable recommendations that drive informed decision-making
    • Maintain an unwavering commitment to the timely and precise completion of all financial tasks
    • Conduct comprehensive financial risk assessments and develop strategic risk mitigation plans
    • Oversee the maintenance of crucial insurance coverage, consistently evaluating policies for optimal protection
    • Conduct thorough financial analyses to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and operational efficiency enhancements, proactively implementing cost control measures when warranted
    • Collaborate seamlessly with the executive team, furnishing indispensable financial guidance for strategic initiatives and decision-making


Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA designation preferred)
    • Minimum of 5 years of progressive financial management experience
    • Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations
    • Experience with financial software and ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, EAM, SunSystems or other Infor software)

    • Legally eligible to work in Calgary, you must be at least 18 years of age
    • Possession of a valid driver’s license, as you may be operating specialized equipment
    • Must be able to obtain transportation security clearance through Transport Canada
