Assurance Manager

Description:

RSM Canada is seeking an Assurance Manager to join their rapidly growing Insurance team in Toronto. The role focuses on managing financial statement assurance engagements for insurance clients as part of RSM’s nationally integrated Financial Markets assurance service line. The Assurance Manager will oversee engagement teams, ensure high-quality client service, and contribute to the professional development of staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide timely, high-quality audit services, including financial statement auditing, disclosures, and client deliverables.

• Assess risks, design audit procedures, and communicate them to engagement teams.

• Supervise Audit Seniors and Supervisors; monitor work quality, productivity, and adherence to work plans.

• Maintain client relationships, understand business developments, and assess impact on audits.

• Mentor staff and facilitate training and career development.

• Stay current on GAAP, GAAS, FASB, IFRS, and RSM standards.

• Identify accounting and auditing issues and performance improvement opportunities.

• Manage project profitability and client engagements.

• Travel up to 25% annually, depending on client needs.

Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree or equivalent from an accredited university.

• Active CPA designation in good standing.

• 5+ years of experience in public accounting.

• Understanding of audit services, GAAP, GAAS, FASB or IFRS regulations.

• Experience leading teams, mentoring associates, and managing multiple engagements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven record of directing staff and senior associates across multiple, simultaneous engagements.

• Strong client relationship management skills.
