Associate Vice-president

 

Description:

Brock University, one of Canada’s leading comprehensive universities, is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Associate Vice-President, Facilities Management (AVP, FM) to provide strategic leadership across all aspects of facilities management. This role involves establishing and implementing long-term strategies to support effective environments for learning, research, residence, and work in alignment with the university’s Strategic Plan.

The AVP will oversee utilities and services, capital and financial management, asset management, and sustainability initiatives. Responsibilities include directing capital planning, mechanical and electrical maintenance, general building maintenance, custodial operations, waste management, and environmental sustainability programs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the operations and development of facilities and campus infrastructure.

  • Ensuring financial integrity of utility operations including budgeting, revenue recovery, and reserve management.

  • Developing strategic plans for facility growth, capital projects, and space management.

  • Building strong relationships with regulators, trade unions, and internal stakeholders to ensure operational and strategic success.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, facilities management, or business administration.

  • Significant leadership experience in facilities management with extensive knowledge of project management, design, and planning.

  • Expertise in Cogeneration and District Energy Systems.

  • Strong understanding of building codes, health and safety, and accessibility standards.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, mediation, negotiation, and customer service skills.

  • Commitment to decolonization, reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Preferred/Asset Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Engineering or Business Administration.

  • Project Management Certification.

  • Professional Engineer or Architect designation.
