Associate Research Scientist

Description:

SCIEX, a leading company in mass spectrometry and capillary electrophoresis, is seeking an Associate Research Scientist (Instrument Control and Acquisition) to join its Software and Applications Research Department. The role is located in Concord, Ontario. The successful candidate will contribute to innovation and development in scientific instrumentation, driving improvements in hardware performance and enabling novel methodologies to advance research workflows.

Responsibilities:

• Enable testing and development of novel hardware to enhance performance for customer workflows.

• Define methodologies to verify or validate aspects of hardware/software under mentorship from senior scientists.

• Generate innovative ideas to advance scientific technology.

• Identify and implement opportunities for product improvement within defined research areas.

• Contribute to on-time delivery of research projects, translating development or scientific risks into actionable research plans.

Requirements:

• Higher-level Science degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or related field (Ph.D. preferred).

• Broad background in instrument control, software development, and machine learning.

• Proven publication record in scientific instrumentation.

• Experience with analytical instrumentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience implementing AI/ML algorithms to solve scientific problems.

• Ability to work independently.

• Track record of innovation and patent generation is a plus.
