Description:
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research center, is seeking an Animal Health Technician to join the Animal Resources Division. This role involves providing animal care, conducting technical procedures, and performing administrative tasks to support ongoing biomedical research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct physical examinations and health assessments of laboratory animals.
- Identify and report animal health issues to veterinarians and research staff.
- Administer treatments and diagnostic tests as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Provide training and guidance to principal investigators (PIs) and research teams.
- Prepare equipment and instruments for surgical procedures and provide pre- and post-operative care.
- Perform routine and specialized technical procedures on laboratory animals.
- Maintain and manage inventory of materials, medications, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with animal use protocols and best practices in animal care.
- Carry out administrative tasks including data entry, coordinating meetings, and training sessions.
Work Schedule & Conditions:
- Work Shift: Starts at 8 AM, including weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday), holidays, and vacation replacements.
- Work Location: RI-MUHC Glen and Montreal General Hospital sites.
- This is not a hospital position.
