Description:
Ports Toronto, operator of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, the Port of Toronto, and the Outer Harbour Marina, is seeking an experienced Manager, Airport Operations to oversee and lead the day-to-day airside operational functions. This leadership position plays a pivotal role in ensuring operational efficiency, safety compliance, regulatory adherence, and the continuous improvement of airside services.
The Manager will be responsible for coordinating airfield maintenance, mobile equipment and fleet management, operational documentation, safety initiatives, and stakeholder collaboration to support strategic objectives. The role also involves supervising Airport Duty Managers and maintenance teams to maintain the highest levels of safety, reliability, and service delivery.
Manage maintenance crews including scheduling, training, and documentation.
Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and participate in Safety Management System (SMS) committee meetings and audits.
Develop and implement Corrective Action Plans and ensure compliance with health and safety standards for staff, contractors, and service providers.
Oversee airfield operations, including runways, taxiways, aprons, and critical infrastructure.
Manage fleet maintenance, winter operations, and ensure asset readiness during seasonal weather events.
Oversee the creation and distribution of operational bulletins, NOTAMs, and standard operating procedures.
Ensure accurate documentation and reporting including incident management, property condition reports, and daily occurrence logs.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure service levels are met and customer experience initiatives are implemented.
Act as the airside subject matter expert (SME) for construction projects and activities affecting airside operations.
Assist in developing and updating Standing Orders (SOs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and maintenance-specific plans.
Post-secondary education in aviation/airport management or equivalent industry experience.
Minimum 5 years of direct airport operations experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management position.
Experience in fiscal management, risk management, and strategic project planning.
Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
Superior communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Incident Management System (IMS) 200/300 an asset.
Fluency in English; bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
Familiarity with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), TP 312E standards, NOTAM procedures, Safety Management Systems, OHS regulations, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
