Xanadu Residency Program

Description:

The Xanadu Residency Program 2026 is a prestigious 16-week on-site opportunity designed to immerse undergraduate and graduate students in the world of quantum computing research, software development, and innovation. The program aims to equip residents with deep technical knowledge, practical experience, and the opportunity to contribute to real-world, cutting-edge quantum projects under the guidance of Xanadu’s world-class scientists, physicists, and engineers.

The residency begins with a one-week quantum computing bootcamp, offering participants the foundational understanding of quantum mechanics, quantum software, and Xanadu’s proprietary tools. Residents will also get the chance to learn about Xanadu’s culture, mission, and technological vision.

Throughout the residency, participants will work on challenging, high-impact projects in research, education, or software domains depending on their skills and interests. Example projects include:

  • Developing new and efficient quantum algorithms for chemistry and machine learning.

  • Enhancing PennyLane, Xanadu’s open-source quantum computing framework.

  • Designing scalable architectures for fault-tolerant quantum computing.

  • Creating interactive educational tools and visualizations for quantum operations and states.

Residents will collaborate closely with mentors, gaining insight into quantum technology applications, and participating in Xanadu’s mission to advance quantum research and software innovation.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate (Master’s or PhD) or undergraduate program in a related field such as Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering.

  • Strong interest and understanding of quantum computing and quantum information science.

  • Demonstrated experience in scientific programming (Python preferred).

  • Ability to work collaboratively, learn quickly, and contribute to a team-based research environment.

  • (Preferred) Prior exposure to frameworks like NumPy, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Qiskit, Cirq, or PyQuil.

  • (Preferred) Experience with teaching, technical writing, or creating educational tutorials.

Application Details:

Interested candidates should submit their CV and a statement of interest specifying preferred research areas, topics, or supervisors.
