Description:

Tatham Engineering, a leading Canadian employee-owned consulting engineering firm, is seeking an Inspector – Water/Wastewater to join their dynamic Water & Wastewater group based in Barrie, Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and experienced professional who wants to contribute to impactful infrastructure projects that enhance community life.

The Inspector will be responsible for observing, verifying, and witnessing construction activities to ensure compliance with design drawings, specifications, and applicable municipal and provincial standards. The role involves frequent collaboration with contractors, municipal representatives, and internal engineering teams, ensuring smooth project delivery and quality workmanship.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe and verify construction activities for compliance with approved design drawings, tender documents, and applicable standards.

  • Conduct field inspections for municipal and private water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, booster stations, reservoirs, intakes, and control buildings.

  • Liaise with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders to resolve field-related issues.

  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, maintain accurate records, and support contract administration processes.

  • Participate in site meetings, take meeting minutes, and ensure effective communication between all project parties.

  • Identify and report potential deficiencies or non-conformances during construction.

  • Travel to multiple project sites across Ontario as required.

  • Contribute to maintaining Tatham’s reputation for technical excellence, professionalism, and client service.


Key Position Requirements:

  • Graduate of an Engineering Technology or Technician program (preferred).

  • Minimum 5 years of prior experience in construction inspection or related technical field.

  • Strong understanding of contract drawings, tender documentation, design standards, and construction procedures.

  • Proven ability to work safely and effectively around heavy construction equipment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle for site travel.
