Vehicle Appraiser

Description:

Clutch, Canada’s largest online used car retailer, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Vehicle Appraiser (Wholesale/Auction) to join its Wholesale & Dealer Operations team in Mississauga. This role is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with a background in vehicle appraisal, wholesale, or auto auctions to contribute to the growth of one of Canada’s most innovative automotive companies.

As part of the wholesale team, the Vehicle Appraiser will be responsible for evaluating, pricing, and managing vehicles through various auction platforms. The role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while ensuring accuracy and transparency in all auction-related processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Price Wholesale Vehicles: Set competitive reserve prices for wholesale inventory using auction trends, dealer insights, and market data to optimize both sell-through and profitability.

• Allocate Vehicles: Strategically assign units to auction platforms (Openlane, EBlock, etc.) based on demand, regional strength, and sales strategies.

• Auction Representation: Represent Clutch inventory in live and timed auctions, negotiate with buyers, and ensure accurate presentation of all vehicles.

• Drive KPIs: Own responsibility for sell-through conversion rates, working to maximize sales, minimize reruns, and reduce margin leakage.

• Cross-Team Collaboration: Share pricing insights and auction feedback with the acquisitions team to improve overall performance.

• Ensure Accuracy: Maintain transparent and accurate disclosures, condition reports, and auction listings.

• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency in the appraisal and auction lifecycle as volumes grow.

• Strong analytical ability to interpret market data and pricing patterns.

• Proven negotiation skills with the ability to handle dealer objections effectively.

• Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in reports, disclosures, and pricing.

• Results-driven, with a focus on KPIs and achieving measurable outcomes.

• Team-oriented with strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Preferred Experience:

• Prior experience in online or physical auto auctions.

• Background in automotive appraisal, wholesale, auction management, or as a junior wholesaler or buyer.
