Cabot Cape Breton, located in the picturesque town of Inverness, Nova Scotia, is hiring for Turf Technicians across four levels, ranging from entry-level to seasoned professionals. The resort features Canada’s only authentic links golf course, offering an exciting opportunity to work in a world-class environment.
Turf Technician Level 1:
This entry-level role is ideal for individuals with little or no experience in turf maintenance. Training, supervision, and growth opportunities are provided. The technician will assist experienced team members and learn various aspects of golf course maintenance.
Turf Technician Level 2:
Ideal for those with at least one year of experience in turf maintenance, this role involves more complex tasks, including mechanized bunker raking and pedestrian mowing, with minimal supervision.
Turf Technician Level 3:
For candidates with three years of experience, this role includes larger tasks like large area mowing, greens data collection, and operating more advanced machinery. The technician will work with minimal supervision but may still receive some coaching.
Turf Technician Level 4:
For experienced individuals with at least five years in golf course maintenance, this senior role requires leadership skills to guide teams and take on more complex tasks, such as Skid steer and Excavator operations, tractor use, and basic irrigation repairs.
Core Responsibilities (Common to All Levels):
Follow directions for maintaining a clean, safe, and productive work environment.
Use appropriate equipment and personal protective gear.
Participate in daily golf course setup, ensuring the course is ready for play.
Operate various maintenance equipment safely.
Report any issues or concerns to the Superintendent.
Essential Responsibilities by Level:
Level 1: General labor, bunker raking, pedestrian mowing, light equipment operation.
Level 2: Mechanized bunker rake operations, ride-on mowing, light utility vehicle operation, hand watering.
Level 3: Ride-on greens roller, tractor operations, implementing tee service, herbicide applications, aerator use.
Level 4: Leadership of small teams, operation of Skid steer, Excavator, irrigation repairs.
Physical Demands:
Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently.
Working with motorized equipment and chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides).

Duration: Seasonal, Full-time, 6–9 month contract
