(INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT C)

Department : Learning and Information Technology Division

Salary : $75,966.80 + plus extensive benefits and municipal pension

Pre-approved OT hours paid as double-time, $83.48/hour

Hours : 7 hours per day, Monday-Friday

This position is 100% in-person at the VSB Education Centre (1580 West Broadway)

Responsibilities:

In this position, you will:
 

  • Research, implement, configure, and support cloud, network, endpoint and security applications
  • Administer users, groups, policies, and permissions.
  • Install and configures computer and mobile devices, server and directory services, system and application software, network nodes, IP devices, printers, scanners, and other technologies in schools and District locations
  • Establish standards and procedures and write specifications, scripts and documentation for technical systems
  • Configure, programs and administrate the ITSM solution in the district
  • Implement the District’s printing initiative
  • Prepare and execute detailed plans for complex multi-functional projects
  • Research and analyze emerging trends in technology and systems architecture, evaluate alternatives and make recommendations
  • Provide support, direction and apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to address escalated issues
  • Develop and deliver training workshops for technical and end user audiences
  • Liaise with stakeholders, LIT teams, vendors, contractors and other third parties as required to support district services
  • Perform information technology support to the Division
  • Performs other related duties as required

     

Qualifications:
 

  • Completion of grade 12 plus over two (2) years' full-time of combined post-secondary education in information technology, electronics, electrical and telecommunications.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience of progressive experience in a relevant computer systems/technology application development discipline
  • Experience working in a K-12 education organization an asset.
  • Advanced skill in implementing, problem solving, and supporting Apple and Microsoft computer, mobile, directory, server, network, security, and printing & ITSM technologies.
  • Experience with networking, security devices, MAC, PC and server support, virtual environments, virus protection, O365, Azure AD, Intune, Jamf, VMware and other various software applications.
  • Ability to analyze, prepare and distribute information in multiple formats to a diverse audience with a variety of technical experience levels.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and experience in designing/delivering presentations.
  • Must be able to meet the following assessment: 1 hour series of tasks/problems (70%+).
  • Successful candidate must be willing to work occasional evening hours and be able to lift/carry/move weights up to 50 lbs. Evening work will be pre-scheduled and paid as OT (generally not exceeding 3 evenings per month, 10 months/year).
