Tax Analyst

 

Description:

This role offers the opportunity to manage Canadian tax compliance and support tax planning, reorganizations, and tax strategies for the group's companies.

The incumbent actively participates in tax optimization and the continuous improvement of the department's processes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Taxation: Preparation of tax provisions (monthly, quarterly, annual), documentation supporting the tax note presented in the consolidated financial statements of COGECO Inc. and Cogeco Communications Inc., and preparation of Canadian tax returns.
  • Transfer Pricing: Development of contemporaneous documentation.
  • Compliance & Risks: Management of tax audits and proactive risk identification.
  • Strategy: Support for tax planning, reorganizations, and the structuring of group entities to optimize the tax situation of each entity within the group.
  • Advisory: Operational tax support for managers.
  • Projects: Collaboration on special projects and continuous process improvement.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Administration/Accounting/Finance + Master’s degree (or Graduate Diploma) in Taxation or the In-Depth Tax Course (CPA).
  • Experience: 5 to 7 years of relevant tax experience.
  • Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Canadian tax rules.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, synthesis, teamwork, and methodical rigor skills.
  • Tools: TaxPrep, tax research tools (Google Workspace is an asset).
  • Languages: Bilingualism is essential. The employee will collaborate with stakeholders outside of Quebec.
