Description:
Bell, one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented System Architecture Specialist to join its Network and Technology Services team in Ottawa. This position plays a crucial role in developing and maintaining automation systems and database solutions that support small, medium, and enterprise-class customers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in SQL Server, system administration, and software lifecycle management, along with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and security-sensitive environment.
As part of Bell’s largest high-tech team in Canada, you will contribute to building and maintaining the cutting-edge Fibre and 5G networks that connect Canadians nationwide. This team also supports Bell’s leading products and services, including Fibe TV, Wireless, Smart Home, Cloud, IoT, and Cybersecurity platforms.
Develop and implement automation solutions to enhance system performance and support customer operations.
Perform SQL Server installations, configurations, upgrades, backups, patching, and troubleshooting.
Design and maintain SQL Server maintenance plans and application server configurations based on best practices.
Analyze database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries, indexes, and transaction rates.
Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) — from planning and design to implementation and maintenance.
Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and vendors to address operational and system issues.
Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for complex customer concerns.
Conduct periodic restore and recovery tests to ensure system reliability and data integrity.
Participate in an on-call rotation for 24x7 support of critical production systems.
Must possess a valid Government of Canada Level II (Secret) Security Clearance.
Strong background in SQL Server administration, database optimization, and application server management.
Proficiency in Windows and Linux environments.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven experience working in high-availability, enterprise-scale IT infrastructures.
Effective communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
Adequate knowledge of French required for positions in Quebec.
