The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility is offering 17 student job positions within its Centre de gestion de l’équipement roulant (CGER). These positions allow students to gain hands-on mechanical and maintenance experience in dynamic workshop environments across Québec.

As a Garage and Workshop Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a certified mechanic and support various operations such as:

• Assisting mechanics with maintenance tasks

• Installing and servicing tires

• Cleaning the workshop

• Organizing and classifying mechanical parts

• Rearranging equipment within the workshop

• Transporting vehicles

• Performing basic repairs and maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems including:

  • Salt spreader joints

  • Truck and trailer lights

  • Heavy truck brakes

• Welding tasks

• Replacing tires and hydraulic hoses

• Performing oil and grease changes on engines, transmissions, and differentials

• Picking up parts, mechanics, or clients from suppliers

• Carrying out various related tasks

Work Schedule:

• 14 hrs/week during study sessions

• 21 hrs/week during reading weeks

• 38.45 hrs/week during summer and holiday breaks

The job offers a flexible schedule to support work-study-life balance. Work is scheduled during the day from Monday to Friday.

Requirements:

• Must be enrolled full-time in a recognized study program (part-time permitted only in the final or penultimate semester)

• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada

• Must have sufficient proficiency in French

Preferred Qualifications:

• Enrollment in a vocational diploma (DEP) in heavy vehicle mechanics, construction equipment mechanics, automotive mechanics, or another related specialization

• Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
