Description:
Reporting to the Director of Procurement, and mainly assigned to a purchasing category, the Buyer must support the Category Manager in the establishment of procurement strategies for services and goods. The incumbent is autonomous and mainly leads procurement files related to suppliers and business projects, manages the business relationship with suppliers, the bidding process (RFP) and the awarding of the contracts according to the organization's requests, project activities, business needs and established processes. He/she follows up on requirements with internal customers while creating value for the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the business relationship with current and future suppliers assigned to him/her as well as the needs (products and/or services) of the organization;
- Execute procurement activities for its categories;
- Lead or participate in the process of requesting proposals, negotiating agreements and resolving disputes on the best possible terms within the timeframe required by the organization. Generate value for the organization (savings, avoided costs, etc.);
- Prepare documentation for executive committees or selection committees for contract awards and approval levels;
- Establish a link with the main applicants;
- Represent the department at multidisciplinary meetings related to the various projects assigned to him/her;
- Research new products (and/or services), equivalent products (and/or services) and new suppliers;
- Collaborate with requesters to identify their business needs and prepare performance indicators (KPIs) for his/her purchasing category in relation to his/her objectives;
- Collaborate in the development of total cost of ownership models with the support of internal experts;
- Perform all other related duties, similar to the main characteristics mentioned in this description.
Academic background
- Bachelor's degree in administration or related discipline.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement;
- Have a very good understanding of contractual language;
- Experience in the telecommunications industry, particularly cable television, is an asset.
