Specialized Services Team Lead

 

Description:

The Team Lead of Specialized Services is responsible for assisting the manager in the implementation and administration of the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum of Services and Family Support programs. The Team Lead works to supervise a team of support staff which includes FASS System Navigator, FASS Advocates, Family Support Services, and Casual Support Staff, performance and development.

 

The Team Lead supports staff to build and navigate client-directed care plans for FASS and Family Support participants and will identify and respond to their psychosocial needs through a client-centered, strengths-based model that is rooted in harm reduction and trauma-informed care. The FASS and Family Support Teams work to provide role-modeling, practical assistance and connect participants to a variety of services in the community.  This position requires successful working relationships with participants that support their ability to reach their potential. 

 

This position will influence and celebrate positive outcomes with participants and will work with the front-line support workers and care team to mitigate problems and obstacles that threaten to undermine participant’s wellbeing. Keeping clear and accurate files and records is essential. The successful candidate requires an understanding of case management, families, FASD, and trauma-informed practice.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Delivery

  • Support staff to work with participants regularly to collaboratively set goals, develop a care plan, evaluate success, and revise a plan accordingly.
  • Assist staff with implementation of participant’s case plan through role-modeling, teaching, information, brokering, advocacy, and providing practical assistance.
  • Identify opportunities to assess and enhance participants’ readiness to make positive changes and increase self-reliance.
  • Coordinate caseload reviews and transfers with Manager and FASD System Navigator
  • Assist FASD System Navigator with monitoring waitlist.
  • Facilitate case management meetings with direct support of staff and other service providers as needed.
  • Oversee orientation, training, and day-to-day supervision of direct report staff and volunteers
  • Provide direct participant support as needed.
  • Monitor and Schedule staff to facilitate FASS Peer Support Group.
  • Work with Indigenous Engagement to plan cultural group activities for FASS and FS.
  • Attend case conferences and interagency meetings in the community.
  • Identify and utilize outreach stabilization activities that include assisting teams to make connections with community agencies.
  • Assist manager as need to facilitate Team meetings to inform, plan, direct, and hear staff concerns.
  • Assist manager with recruitment and hiring.  

 

General and Administrative

  • Provide direct reports with monthly statistical reports and provide feedback as required.
  • Approve and monitor lone worker app (Ok Alone), staff overtime, health maintenance, and vacation leaves.
  • Ensure staff have quarterly reporting done by the deadline.
  • Maintain and oversee accurate written case file notes, computer records, update program databases, program information and critical incident reports within established time standards.
  • Arrange regular supervision with direct reports weekly or biweekly.
  • Arrange in-field supervision meetings with participants and direct reports annually.
  • Arrange performance management meetings with direct reports and manager when necessary.
  • Complete probationary and annual performance review.
  • Provide feedback to the Manager on team progress, barriers to service, and challenges.
  • Submit and approve ADP by deadlines.
  • Participate in ongoing learning and training opportunities as identified in annual performance review.
  • Uphold Health and Safety standards and be actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Consistently adhere to Bissell Centre values, guiding principles, policies, and code of ethics.
  • Provide feedback, document, and follow up with performance and agency policies and protocols as required

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Social Science, social work, human services or related discipline.
  • Employees with Social Work Diploma/Degree are required to provide and maintain ongoing registration, in good standing, with Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) as per Alberta Health Professionals Act.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant employment experience (e.g., high-risk populations, case management, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, housing vulnerable individuals, mental health, and addictions).
  • Minimum 1 year Supervisory experience.
  • Alberta Class 5 License, Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract, and a vehicle.
