Description:
The Salvation Army in Canada has been serving communities for over 130 years, providing essential services such as food, clothing, shelter, and support for individuals facing unemployment, addiction, and family challenges. This position supports the organization’s mission by managing store operations as a Shift Supervisor, ensuring smooth daily activities and excellent customer and donor service.
The role is based at 20 Leslie Street, Toronto, ON. The Shift Supervisor ensures compliance with store policies, promotes a safe work environment, and supports team members while maintaining store efficiency and organization.
Interact positively with customers and donors, providing excellent service.
Ensure the integrity of all donated items and proper handling of merchandise.
Accurately process all customer transactions, including cash and debit sales.
Contribute to meeting store budgets by upholding customer service standards.
Open and close the store following store procedures when required.
Process donations: load/unload, sort, pack, price, and store items.
Maintain knowledge of stock to respond to inquiries via phone or in person.
Monitor store security and ensure safe and organized merchandise handling.
Assist in stock rotation, inventory reconciliation, and store layout planning.
Maintain a clean and organized store environment through cleaning, tidying, and restocking shelves.
Act as Team Lead/Working Supervisor for store associates in the absence of the Store Manager.
Provide on-the-job training and guidance to staff as needed.
Maintain compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the mission of The Salvation Army.
Completion of some high school required.
Minimum 2 years experience in a store or warehouse environment.
Willingness to support and understand the mission of The Salvation Army.
Compliance with OH&S Act and internal health and safety policies.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Physical capability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs frequently, including bending, twisting, pulling, and pushing.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to successfully complete applicable background checks and screenings.
Target range: $17.61 – $22.01/hr, with a maximum of $26.41/hr.
