The Senior VDC Designer develops and optimizes engineering consultant designs into coordinated, fabricable, and installable virtual models. This role ensures systems meet code requirements, improve efficiency, and minimize material and labor costs while supporting project delivery through advanced BIM technologies.

Key Impact / Purpose
- Transform consultant designs into detailed, coordinated models for fabrication and installation.
- Optimize layouts for efficiency and compliance with codes and standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve design conflicts before construction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Model 3D building systems to improve consultant drawings, including QA/QC steps for at least one discipline.
- Ensure systems meet code requirements and are installable with maximum efficiency.
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D models and plans for mechanical systems and components.
- Assess project requirements and collaborate with engineers and project managers.
- Create and review final drawings for site installation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Optimize equipment layouts for mechanical rooms to maximize space and efficiency.
- Coordinate with teams to resolve clashes using BIM software and clash detection tools.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to meet project requirements.
- Adhere to project requirements and codes while considering installation and lifecycle stages.
Must-haves:
- 5+ years of Revit experience (preferably designing mechanical rooms).
- Post-secondary diploma in Mechanical or Construction Technology or related field.
- Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revizto, or similar BIM software.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, heat transfer, equipment, and shop drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and spatial awareness.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience in mechanical contracting trades (HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal).
- Problem-solving experience in engineering/manufacturing/construction environments.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards.
