Senior Technical Planning Manager

Description:

Sun Life is seeking a Senior Technical Planning Manager within its Enterprise Network Services team to lead contract management and vendor engagement initiatives. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in aligning vendor services with Sun Life’s strategic goals, ensuring compliance, driving value, and managing end-to-end contract lifecycle activities. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with deep expertise in network technologies, vendor relationship management, and project planning, with a passion for delivering impactful results in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft and manage RFPs, bids, contracts, and proposals with vendors

• Onboard new vendors in line with Sun Life's Third Party Risk Management policies

• Ensure contracts align with company policies, legal and regulatory standards

• Negotiate new vendor engagements, extensions, renewals, or close-outs efficiently

• Maintain and audit existing contracts for compliance and updates

• Generate insights, performance reports, and business cases to support internal stakeholders and leadership

• Serve as a strategic liaison between Sun Life and vendors, ensuring offerings meet evolving business needs

• Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve project governance, vendor performance, and cost-effectiveness

• Define, track, and analyze KPIs, SLAs, and financial performance of vendor engagements

• Proactively identify and resolve vendor-related conflicts while ensuring governance and compliance

• Manage strategic vendor partnerships to drive business outcomes

Required Competencies:

• Proven success in managing enterprise-level vendor partnerships

• Strong negotiation and contract management skills

• In-depth knowledge of network and security technologies (with pre-sales engineering exposure)

• Experience with performance metrics, compliance standards, and spend management

• Familiarity with SAP Ariba and related procurement tools

• Excellent written/verbal communication, collaboration, and leadership skills

• Proficient in risk management, legal compliance, and project governance

• Educational background in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Additional Information:

• Salary Range: CAD 84,000 – 138,000 annually (approx. 7,000 – 11,500 per month)
