About the Role
This role reflects the commitment to building a best-in-class structural engineering capability and offering a platform for ambitious professionals to do meaningful, complex work. We are seeking an experienced Structural P.Eng. to join the engineering team at Monument Group. The successful candidate will serve as the technical lead and mentor for the existing structural engineering staff, providing oversight, stamping authority, and the expertise needed to pursue and deliver progressively complex structural scopes.
Responsibilities
- Lead structural design and analysis across a broad range of project types including buildings, bridges, foundations, industrial structures, and municipal infrastructure
- Provide stamping authority and professional sign-off on structural drawings, reports, and specifications.
- Review and mentor work produced by junior and intermediate structural engineering staff
- Conduct and oversee structural assessments, condition surveys, and rehabilitation design
- Prepare and review contract documents, specifications, and technical reports
- Provide field review, mentorship and construction support services as required
- Act as the primary technical mentor for Monument's junior/intermediate structural engineer, providing day-to-day guidance and structured professional development.
- Build internal capacity by coaching staff through increasingly complex structural scopes with confidence and professional oversight
- Contribute to the development of internal standards, workflows, and quality control processes for the structural engineering group
Project Management
- Manage structural project delivery from inception through to construction completion
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams including survey, civil engineering, and external subconsultants
- Maintain project schedules, budgets, and client communication
Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
- Minimum 8 years of progressive structural engineering experience
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; graduate-level degree is an asset
- Proven experience across multiple structural project types (buildings, bridges, foundations, rehabilitation, industrial)
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing junior engineering staff
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD, RISA, or similar)
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or equivalent CAD platforms
- Strong command of relevant Canadian codes and standards (NBCC, CSA S6, CSA A23.3, CSA S16, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of producing high quality technical reports and client-facing documents
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to project sites across Ontario
