Senior Project Manager

 

Description:

Intertek, a global leader in quality assurance, testing, inspection, and certification, is seeking a Senior Project Manager for its Energy division in Coquitlam, BC. The role involves overseeing testing, inspection, and certification projects for energy-related products across North America. The position requires technical expertise in electrical products, regulatory compliance, project management, and mentoring team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently conduct on- and off-site testing and evaluation of electrical products to ensure compliance with U.S., Canadian, and international safety standards.

  • Validate project scope and sample applicability.

  • Develop, set up, and follow established test plans.

  • Conduct Preliminary Design Reviews, construction reviews, and document results.

  • Perform field labeling jobs and provide technical guidance.

  • Mentor and train personnel on test procedures, standards, and technical issues.

  • Research new standards, technologies, and trends.

  • Represent Intertek on technical committees, code panels, or associations.

  • Provide sales support, attend client meetings, project scoping, and quoting.

  • Communicate project status and test results to clients, sales personnel, and management.

  • Identify and document engineering judgments within policy guidelines.

  • Demonstrate expertise in multiple product categories.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science, Technology, or equivalent; 10+ years of relevant experience.

  • 7+ years of direct regulatory and compliance experience, specifically with NRTL and certification processes.

  • Prior project management experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of U.S., Canadian, and international product safety standards (ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC).

  • Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 17025).

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Customer-focused and quality-driven.

  • Travel up to 50% as required; valid driver’s license needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with UL 1998, UL 991, UL 60730, UL 1741, UL 9540, UL 9540A, UL 508a, and related standards.

  • Experience with utility-interactive inverters and power conversion equipment.
