Senior Oversight Electrical Technologist

NES Fir Croft, a leading global technical recruitment company, is seeking a Senior Oversight Electrical Technologist to join their client’s engineering and project execution teams in Alberta. The successful candidate will provide technical oversight, lead design reviews, manage vendor relations, and support project execution from planning to commissioning. This hybrid role requires approximately 25% travel to project sites and a valid Driver’s Abstract.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage contracts and relationships with Engineering Services Providers (ESPs).

• Lead design reviews ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, codes, and internal standards.

• Oversee material specifications, vendor quotations, bid evaluations, and procurement coordination.

• Support project planning, scheduling, and capital cost estimation during design and procurement phases.

• Provide technical support across all project stages including development, construction, and commissioning.

• Ensure red-line markups are accurately integrated into as-built drawings.

• Contribute to risk assessments, incident investigations, and lessons-learned documentation.

• Promote standardization and programmatic execution for future projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience designing power distribution systems in Oil & Gas.

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation with APEGA or eligibility to register.

• Strong knowledge of CEC, NEC, API, IEEE, UL, and other relevant standards.

• Hands-on experience with medium voltage switchgear, motor control centers, VFDs, PLC systems, SCADA, and instrumentation.

• Experience in cooling facility power distribution is an asset.

• Excellent planning, decision-making, negotiation, and communication skills.

Contract Details

• Length: 1-year contract to start.

• Work Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).

• Travel: Approximately 25% to project sites.
