Senior Glazing Estimator

 

Description:

City Window & Glass, founded in 1962, is a leading architectural glass and aluminum company that specializes in glazing solutions for various structural and aesthetic needs. The company is seeking a Senior Glazing Estimator to join the Estimation Team and help drive accurate and efficient project estimates. This role will be critical in reviewing tender opportunities, preparing material take-offs, projecting job costs, and building lasting customer relationships.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and summarize tender packages, including specifications and scope of work.

  • Interpret architectural drawings and conduct material take-offs for commercial window and door installations.

  • Identify discrepancies within tender packages and drawings.

  • Request and evaluate supplier quotations, maintaining an organized pricing matrix for materials.

  • Monitor project progress, maintain logs, and update the Chief Estimator on challenges.


Job Tasks:

  • Read, interpret, and summarize retrofit and new construction tender packages (specifications, scope of work, tender forms, etc.).

  • Work from architectural drawings, specifications, blueprints, and shop drawings.

  • Recap, price, and extend quantity and material take-offs for windows and related systems.

  • Identify and summarize deviations or discrepancies within the tender package and drawings.

  • Request quotations from suppliers, review, and enter supplier pricing in a detailed and organized manner.

  • Develop and maintain a pricing matrix for supplier materials, monitor work progress, and update the Chief Estimator about challenges.


Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, technical college, or equivalent technical training and experience (architectural or construction diploma preferred).

  • Estimating experience in a similar field is an asset.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret drawings and other construction-related documentation.

  • Experience in construction related to commercial windows, window wall systems, and curtain wall systems.

  • Able to work independently and within a team environment.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Highly organized with a strong work ethic.

  • Excellent written and verbal English language skills.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

  • Experience with SolidWorks or Bluebeam Revu is an asset.


Job Details:

  • Location: 208 Queen St. N. (at Barton W.), Hamilton, Canada

  • Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (2 paid breaks, ½-hour unpaid lunch).

  • Salary: $55,000 to $85,000 annually (based on experience and education).
