Our client is a well‑established Edmonton‑based General Contractor delivering commercial, institutional, and First Nations projects across a variety of delivery models, including IPD, Construction Management, Design‑Build, and Lump Sum.
They are seeking a Senior Estimator to join a collaborative and well‑supported Estimating team, reporting directly to the Chief Estimator and working closely with operations and senior leadership. This role will play a key part in shaping bid strategy, leading complex estimates, and supporting successful project pursuits from early concept through tender.
In addition to hands‑on estimating responsibilities, the Senior Estimator will help mentor and support junior and intermediate estimators, contributing to team development, consistency in estimating practices, and continuous improvement across the preconstruction function.

What You'll Do
- Develop and execute winning bid strategies that position the organization for consistent success across diverse project opportunities
- Lead the preparation and coordination of comprehensive, full‑cost estimates from early concept through tender, leveraging a collaborative and transparent estimating approach
- Facilitate and lead estimating workshops to align project budgets with client goals, design intent, and delivery strategies
- Perform detailed quantity take‑offs for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontracted scopes to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Establish, maintain, and validate unit pricing, labour rates, escalation factors, and contingency allowances based on market conditions and project risk
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate competitive bids from subcontractors and suppliers; lead value‑engineering and cost‑optimization exercises
- Provide constructability and cost‑driven input during pre‑construction, working closely with operations teams on procurement planning, scheduling, and site logistics
- Monitor estimated versus actual costs, analyze variances, and contribute to post‑project reviews and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement
- Build, maintain, and strengthen trusted relationships with subtrades, consultants, suppliers, and clients through integrity, collaboration, and clear communication
What We Are Looking For
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Construction, Engineering, or a related field,
- 10+ years of experience estimating/hard bidding on full scope ICI projects with a mid-large general contractor (GC).
- Must be experienced bidding on completed work not just prospective.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting specifications, blueprints, and as-builts.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills for developing accurate material and labour estimates, as well as interpreting job-cost reports.
- Experience with cost-estimating software to prepare bids and quotes.
- AutoCAD experience is considered an asset.
