Ontario Power Generation (OPG), one of North America’s leading clean energy producers, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sr. Draftsperson – Electrical to join their Design Engineering team in Pickering, Ontario. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of electrical systems that power Ontario’s energy future.
As a Senior Electrical Draftsperson, you will be responsible for preparing, designing, and verifying complex electrical drawings and technical documentation for nuclear generating stations, utilizing Computer-Aided Drafting Systems (CADS) technology. The role demands precision, creativity, and a strong understanding of electrical design principles to support engineering, construction, and maintenance operations.

Prepare all types of electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts for equipment and systems related to power generation.
Utilize CADS and AutoCAD technology to support design, procurement, fabrication, and installation of electrical systems in nuclear facilities.
Perform calculations using algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and engineering formulas to develop accurate electrical designs.
Develop Bills of Material (BOM) and detailed material lists, specifying equipment type, make, catalogue number, code markings, and quantities.
Conduct plant walk-downs to ensure configuration management and design accuracy.
Analyze project requirements, gather reference data, and coordinate with other departments to resolve technical and design issues.
Prepare and verify electrical drawings related to high and low voltage systems, grounding, lightning protection, cable routing, control panels, and building services.
Ensure proper channelization and separation of electrical cables between systems, maintaining safety and operational standards.
Assist in design verification by preparing checklists for safety-related systems and confirming compliance with nuclear safety protocols.
Support colleagues by demonstrating CADS operations and contributing to process improvements.
Maintain high standards for safety, quality, and technical excellence, ensuring compliance with OPG’s health and safety policies.
Education: 2–3 year diploma in Electrical Technician or Electrical Technologist.
Experience: Up to 10 years of progressive experience in electrical drafting, preferably within energy, power, or industrial sectors.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with AutoCAD and CADS.
Familiarity with Online Wiring Database (preferred).
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

The salary range is CA$41.77 – CA$68.35 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and training.
