Senior Backup Operations Engineer

Deloitte is seeking a Senior IT Continuity (Backup) Operations Engineer to join its Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) team. This hybrid role is designed for an experienced and analytical professional who can manage and enhance global backup operations across cloud and on-prem environments. The candidate will play a key part in ensuring system resilience, disaster recovery readiness, and efficient data backup and replication operations globally.

As part of Deloitte Global, the position supports strategic initiatives across borders, bringing consistency and excellence to IT continuity and infrastructure services. This role is best suited for a highly skilled engineer who thrives in fast-paced, globally distributed environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support 24x7x365 global backup operations and ensure adherence to backup schedules and policies.

• Manage and monitor daily health checks of backup and replication systems, addressing failures proactively.

• Provide architectural input for backup solutions and support migration of services to cloud environments.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on BCP strategies and validate recovery SLAs through continuity testing.

• Assist in capacity management (compute, storage, network) and maintain readiness for backups.

• Configure backup and replication technologies, and perform restores as needed.

• Ensure compliance with change and asset management policies.

• Automate repetitive operational processes to optimize efficiency and minimize overhead.

• Respond to incidents, service issues, and participate in on-call rotation.

• Use tools like ServiceNow for ticketing and incident response.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience (7+ years)

• Proficiency in cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, and GCP

• Expertise in Windows Server, SQL Server, VEEAM, Zerto, and Microsoft ASR

• Knowledge of Linux, VMware, Oracle Servers, and DevOps methodologies is a plus

• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and automation skills

• Excellent communication, time management, and organizational abilities

• Global collaboration experience and cultural awareness

• High attention to confidentiality and information security

• Commitment to continuous learning and team contribution

• Base Salary: $69000 – $114000 CAD per year
