Senior Accountant

Description:

Innergex Renewable Energy Inc., a leading independent producer of renewable energy with operations across Canada, the United States, France, and Chile, is seeking a Senior Accountant – Operational Sites to join its accounting team in Longueuil, Quebec.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial management of operational sites in the hydroelectric, wind, and solar power sectors. This includes analyzing operating results, preparing financial statements, ensuring the accuracy of financial information, and supporting process improvements and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain operational accounting processes.

• Oversee and ensure the integrity of financial information for assigned operational sites.

• Prepare detailed financial analyses to assess operational efficiency.

• Prepare financial statements for operational sites and affiliated companies.

• Present monthly budget updates to asset managers.

• Prepare monthly and quarterly presentations for partners and stakeholders.

• Supervise intermediary accountants and accountants within the operational accounting team.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational accounting processes.

• Monitor and support procurement and payments to ensure timely processing.

• Coordinate automation and efficiency improvements in the ERP system with the IT team.

• Assist in the budgeting process for operational sites in collaboration with asset managers.

• Prepare audit files related to operational accounting.

• Provide operational accounting sections for tax, financial planning and analysis, and financial reporting teams.

• Establish and maintain rigorous internal controls.

• Participate in special projects and mandates as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

• CPA designation required.

• 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position.

• Experience with multi-entity, multi-project accounting structures.

• Experience managing multiple currencies is an asset.

• Previous experience in a public company is an asset.

• Bilingual (French and English) – both written and spoken – to collaborate with stakeholders outside Quebec.
