Research Consultant

 

Description:

Resident Doctors of Canada (RDoC) is inviting proposals from qualified professionals to serve as a Research Consultant for a national initiative focused on Fatigue Risk Management (FRM) in medical residency training. This hybrid volunteer contract runs from August to October 2025, with a project budget between CAD 40,000 and 50,000.

The consultant will play a central role in examining and addressing issues of overwork and fatigue among resident doctors, synthesizing existing research and global best practices into an actionable, evidence-based framework. This resource will support future contract negotiations and national advocacy efforts, and be instrumental in mobilizing key stakeholders within Canada’s medical education system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive research on fatigue and overwork in medical residency

  • Identify and integrate best practices in fatigue risk management

  • Develop a practical and evidence-based framework for use by RDoC

  • Create a strategic engagement plan targeting medical education leaders across Canada

  • Coordinate and communicate with national partners and stakeholders throughout the project

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in:

    • Canadian health systems and public policy

    • Strategic engagement with national stakeholders

    • Health or medical education research

  • Strong background in postgraduate medical education is considered a strong asset

  • Excellent written communication and analysis skills

  • Proven ability to synthesize complex information into actionable outputs
