Description:
Barrington James is recruiting for a stealth-mode startup leading innovations in quantum technology via photonic integrated circuits. The company is pioneering all-integrated photonic systems designed to build scalable quantum solutions.
As a Quantum Engineer, you will be a vital part of a multidisciplinary team focusing on the design, testing, and optimization of quantum emitters embedded within photonic circuits. The role pushes the boundaries of quantum information science by developing and characterizing cutting-edge quantum devices.
Develop and implement advanced test methods and setups for characterizing quantum emitters integrated into silicon photonic circuits, functioning at both cryogenic and room temperatures.
Analyze and interpret the performance of quantum emitters within photonic integrated devices; communicate results effectively to engineering and research teams.
Collaborate with photonic designers, fabrication engineers, test engineers, and physicists to enhance device performance and integration.
Write automation scripts and tools to support data acquisition, testing, and analysis workflows.
Document detailed testing protocols and share best practices with cross-functional teams.
Mentor and train team members on new testing and measurement techniques.
Contribute to the company’s intellectual property portfolio through innovative problem-solving.
Master’s or PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
At least 3 years of experience directly working with quantum emitters.
Practical experience with cryogenic systems and quantum optical setups.
Proficiency in fiber and/or free-space optics handling and alignment.
Deep understanding of quantum optics, photonics, and electromagnetic compatibility.
Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience automating test equipment and analysis workflows.
Skilled in Python and/or MATLAB for data processing and scripting.
Experience with integrated photonic and silicon photonic devices.
Familiarity with RF instrumentation and measurement techniques.
Opportunity to work with an ambitious quantum technology startup pushing future-defining solutions.
Collaborative, innovation-driven work environment with complex technical challenges.
Competitive salary and benefits including extended health and wellness coverage.
Inclusive company culture with a commitment to diversity, equity, and career development.
Work location in a scenic, innovation-focused region of Canada.
