Purchasing Coordinator

 

Description:

Scout HR + Talent is pleased to be leading the search for an experienced Purchasing Coordinator on behalf of one of Woodstock’s most established, award-winning manufacturing employers. The ideal candidate will have experience controlling costs, negotiating contracts and contract management, as well as building and maintaining supplier relationships.

 

The Opportunity:

  • Utilize company’s best practices and leadership skills to guide and develop an assigned set of suppliers to achieve improvements and global competitive results in safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Lead assigned suppliers and commodities.
  • Request for quote (RFQ) activities; create RFQs, send to suppliers for pricing, compare returned RFQs from different suppliers, provide feedback to suppliers, and complete a Total Cost Analysis.
  • Create Purchasing Strategy Documents for assigned commodities.
  • Responsible for setting and achieving yearly cost reductions through APR negotiation, VE/VA, etc.
  • Report weekly in team meetings the progress of targets and goals (PDCA).
  • Negotiations; negotiate with suppliers to get lower pricing and improved service, work with suppliers to improve their processes to improve pricing through benchmarking and analysis.
  • Building supplier relationships; quarterly meeting to review performance and cost reduction ideas, supplier site-visits to ensure compliance with company standards and to understand process related to cost.
  • Project management; take the lead on projects as assigned by Manager and provide purchasing support to Engineering and Production departments.
  • Participate as needed interacting with other plant locations to troubleshoot issues and problem solve.
  • Support supplier assessments.
  • Must be able to understand the required specifications from the customers, and review drawings(internal and external).
  • Other duties as assigned

 

The Ideal Candidate:

Education

  • Successful completion of a 2- or 3-year college diploma in Purchasing Materials Management and/ or Supply Chain Operations preferred.
  • Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) designation considered an asset.
  • AIAG IATF 16949:2016 Supplier Auditor Certification considered an asset.

 

Experience

  • 2 - 3 years of experience in a similar purchasing or commodity buyer role required, with preference given to those with specific automotive manufacturing setting experience.
  • 2+ years of external customer service experience needed
