Property Maintenance Worker

Crombie REIT, one of Canada’s leading Real Estate Investment Trusts, is seeking a dedicated and service-oriented Property Maintenance Worker for Downsview Mall in Lower Sackville, NS. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the premises are maintained to the highest standard, both inside and out. The position involves a broad range of maintenance and repair duties, requiring a proactive approach, attention to detail, and a strong focus on safety and customer service.

Your responsibilities will include providing excellent customer service by addressing tenant concerns, delivering correspondence, and maintaining positive public relations. You will handle day-to-day building and property maintenance such as cleaning, painting, landscaping, lawn care, and snow/ice removal using shovels, snow blowers, and small tractors. Additional tasks include window cleaning, waste disposal, vacuuming, floor care, and seasonal décor setup/removal. You will also conduct inspections, test building systems (fire pump, domestic water), perform lighting checks, and oversee contractor work to ensure quality and compliance with safety regulations.

The role requires readiness to respond to emergencies such as fires, floods, and security incidents, while ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols. You will regularly report issues to the Property Manager or Maintenance Supervisor, assist with special projects, and support a safe and respectful workplace culture.

Requirements:

• 1–2 years of relevant maintenance experience (knowledge of building operations an asset)

• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

• Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills

• Ability to pass a clear criminal record check

• Physical capability to meet medium physical demands (lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs occasionally)

• Availability for after-hours/on-call duties in emergencies
