Description:
Indigo, Canada’s cultural department store, is looking for a Project Manager, Construction, to manage the planning and execution of store development construction projects, including infrastructure upgrades and emergency remediations. This role will provide expert guidance to internal teams, ensuring successful project completion from inception to closeout. The Project Manager will collaborate closely with various teams across the company, including stores and home office, to complete approved projects successfully.
Key Deliverables:
Successful project initiation, execution, and timely closeout, including deficiency tracking and resolution.
On-time delivery of all assigned projects, within approved scope and budget.
Ensuring all projects meet Indigo’s high-quality standards.
Key Accountabilities:
Manage new store construction, renovations, and other capital projects.
Work collaboratively with store development, design, facilities, and retail teams to develop project scope.
Prepare general contractor tender bid packages for RFQ/RFP processes and analyze responses.
Ensure timely procurement of all consents from landlords.
Oversee and manage on-site and in-store construction activities.
Maintain communication with supervisors and stakeholders on project status.
Monitor and control project budgets to ensure completion within financial limits.
Prepare weekly status reports for senior management.
Maintain high standards for quality, safety, and compliance with building codes and regulations.
Oversee post-construction review and resolution of any issues.
Manage project handovers to retail operations with minimal deficiencies.
Ensure a smooth transition of all project documentation to facilities for aftercare.

Scope:
Reports to: Senior Project Manager, Construction
Key Relationships:
Internal: Real Estate, Facilities, Legal, Retail, Store Leadership, Store Development, Design, Visual Merchandising, IT, Loss Prevention teams.
External: Vendors, Contractors, Suppliers, Architects, Engineers, Landlords, Property Managers.
Qualifications:
Work Experience/Education/Certifications:
Minimum 5 years in Construction Project Management (preferably in retail).
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Construction or Project Management.
Experience in phased construction in open retail stores is required.
Construction estimating experience and strong budget analysis.
Previous experience in skilled trades (e.g., Red Seal Certification) and as a construction site supervisor is an asset.
Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or as a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is an asset.
Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam.
Knowledge of local building codes, bylaws, and permitting.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong team player with a focus on accountability.
Other Requirements:
30% travel
