Project Accountant

Description:

Harbinger Network Inc., partnering with a growing real estate development company, is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to oversee the financial management of multiple development projects from pre-construction through completion. This full-time, on-site role requires a detail-oriented professional capable of working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The position is based in the Allen Rd and Eglinton area and requires 5 days in office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate financial records for multiple residential development projects.

• Prepare monthly project cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses.

• Monitor and reconcile job cost reports, budgets, and actuals using Jonas Construction Software.

• Coordinate with project managers, consultants, and contractors to ensure financial accuracy.

• Assist in preparation of draw packages for lenders and maintain compliance with financing agreements.

• Review and process vendor invoices, progress draws, and change orders.

• Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and accruals.

• Prepare financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

• Liaise with auditors and respond to financial inquiries as required.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting procedures and controls.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 3–5 years of progressive project accounting experience in real estate development or construction.

• Experience with Jonas Construction Software strongly preferred.

• CPA designation or enrolment in the CPA program is an asset.

• Proficiency in MS Excel and financial reporting tools.

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
