Description:
Our Station Operations West Office is looking for Plant Utility Persons to ensure GO Transit facilities, grounds, and plant equipment operate, and are maintained in a safe and effective manner.
What will I be doing?
- Carries out remedial and programmed maintenance and repair including painting, fencing, carpentry, glazing, grounds-keeping, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC servicing, civil and structural work.
- Prepares record for the supervisor relative to work accomplished, deficiencies noted, vehicle, equipment, and material usage.
- Operates and maintains vehicles, equipment, and assigned tools.
- Carries out the construction/installation of temporary and permanent fixtures.
- Carries out emergency measures resulting from environmental accidents.
- Performs snow and ice control services, utilizing de-icers, snow removal tools, equipment and materials.
- Oversees the work of other staff and contractors.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Level of reading, writing and learning skills normally attained through completion of High School.
- Minimum nine (9) months experience in general building and grounds maintenance providing a good knowledge of mechanical/electrical equipment, snow and ice control methods and experience in the operation and maintenance of specialized equipment and vehicles.
- Must have a working knowledge of applicable building, fire, environmental and Health and Safety Regulations.
- Must have a valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence and must meet corporate standard for a good driving record.
- Must be able to obtain GO Transit Equipment Operator’s Permit.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid Certification.
- Must successfully complete environmental, safety, and any other training required by corporate policy.
- Work with General contractors on a regular basis for incidental guidance or exchange of information.
- Work Suppliers and manufacturers on a regular basis for obtaining information.
- Work with CN, PNR (Pacific Northern Railway), and CP Flagmen on a regular basis for incidental guidance or exchange of information.
- Interact with Customers and the general public, to respond to questions on work in progress.
