Description:
Pipeline Integrity Survey Crew Chief in North Bay, Ontario to work on projects in and around the region. As the successful candidate you are organized and highly collaborative, with strong communication skills and an infectious positivity that impacts and motivates all team members. You have a strong ability to operate equipment and field tools, with a healthy respect for the great outdoors and the timeline of the task at hand.
What you will do:
- Lead and oversee field crews in performing inspections, assessments, and data collection related to asset integrity.
- Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, review and manage project budgets, schedules, priorities, and survey methodology.
- Conduct integrity inspections on pipelines, structures or other assets as required.
- Liaise with client field representatives and landowners and be a brand ambassador for GeoVerra.
- Prepare field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats for different audiences.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of inspection findings and field activities.
- Provide guidance, training and mentorship to Survey Assistants.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology.
- Proactively participate in and support the GeoVerra safety program.
- Complete office technical survey tasks as required and other duties as assigned
What you will bring:
- Diploma/Degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying, geomatics or civil engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations (Including Robotic).
- Experience of Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning and line locating considered an asset.
- Knowledge of integrity management practices, inspections techniques, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to produce accurate and legible field notes.
- The ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team environment.
- An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget.
- A valid driver’s license and can provide a clean driver’s abstract; and
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace
Job Conditions:
- Out of town work (including shift work) and frequent travel required.
- Ability to carry, lift and push up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
