We are currently recruiting caring, compassionate, and dedicated Personal Care Assistants to join a specialist education setting supporting young adults aged 19-30 with a range of complex learning needs.

This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support learners with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), helping them to access education while promoting their wellbeing, independence, and dignity.

The Role

As a Personal Care Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to provide high-quality care and educational support throughout the school day.

You'll play an essential role in creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where learners can develop confidence, life skills, and independence.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Providing personal care support, including toileting, changing, and personal hygiene, while maintaining dignity and respect
  • Supporting learners during mealtimes, including feeding assistance where required
  • Assisting with mobility, transfers, and positioning in accordance with individual care plans
  • Encouraging independence and supporting learners to develop essential life skills
  • Assisting learners during classroom activities and educational sessions
  • Monitoring learners' wellbeing and reporting any concerns to the appropriate members of staff
  • Building positive, professional relationships with learners while maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to support each learner's individual needs
     

About You

You Will Ideally Have
 

  • Previous experience in care, support work, healthcare, education, or a similar setting (desirable but not essential)
  • A caring, compassionate, and positive approach
  • Confidence supporting individuals with complex learning needs and disabilities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable young people and adults
  • A willingness to provide personal care as part of your daily responsibilities
     

Working Hours
 

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:45am - 3:00pm
  • Full-time position
