Managing 18.8M square feet across 303 properties with a $5B enterprise value, Crombie’s portfolio includes grocery-focused retail, necessity-based retail, retail-related industrial, and mixed-use residential properties.

Reporting to the President & CEO and collaborating closely with the Board’s HR Committee, the Senior Vice President, People & Culture will lead the human resources and communications functions for Crombie’s 300 employees across Canada. This role ensures that HR systems, programs, and talent strategies are scalable to support future growth.

The SVP will also provide leadership to the communications function, ensuring Crombie’s brand is consistently reflected internally and externally while enhancing cohesion and maximizing marketing impact for property lease-ups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HR processes and systems that align with the company’s strategic goals.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, board, and executive team regarding people and culture matters.

  • Enhance succession planning, employee engagement, and compensation structures.

  • Implement KPIs and change leadership strategies to ensure effective execution.

  • Lead the communications function to strengthen internal and external messaging.

  • Operate strategically as a business partner while remaining closely connected to operational details.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven human resources and communications leadership experience in growing organizations with significant capital spend.

  • Strong strategic, governance, and relationship management skills.

  • Collaborative, low-ego, and hands-on leadership style.

  • Ability to clearly articulate positions while accepting guidance from the board.

  • Known as a culture-creator and advocate for a value-based, engaging workplace.

  • Experience with publicly traded or private company boards is an asset.

  • Humble, approachable, grounded, and results-oriented.
